“I live here in
KC and this has to be the most accurate weather forecast I have heard. Keep up the good work.” – Comment at Podcast Alley
The Kansas City Weather Podcast started in early February 2005 and was the world’s very first weather-themed podcast. With nearly daily updates shortly after it’s inception, it has more episodes than all but a couple of shows since the start of podcasting.
The show was honored with a Podcast Peer Award for the best regional-themed podcast by the podcasting community in the fall of 2006.
“Without question the top quality Kansas City Internet production for weather talk is The KC Weather Podcast. Ed Roberts has carved out a nice niche for himself as Kansas City’s Internet Weatherman and since his content is “opt-in” there’s not as much hyperbole or sensationalism. Even better, he’s often right about the weather a great many times which is a change from the local weather forecasters who have been called out by the New York Times for their inaccuracy.” – Tony Botello on KC Confidential
“For those of you in the Kansas City area, or you’re a weather buff, you MUST subscribe to this podcast. Ed does a wonderful job with the weather forecast. You don’t have to wait for the local stations to doil out the weather a little piece at a time. Download Ed and take him with you. He’s quick, to the point, and funny at the same time.” – Charles from Mostly News
About Ed Roberts

Having grown up outside of Milwaukee, WI, I have been an avid weather enthusiast my entire life. I graduated from the outstanding Valparaiso University meteorology program in 1998. After a year and a half at WSBT-TV in South Bend, IN while in school, I arrived in Kansas City in to work at KSHB-TV (Channel 41). While there, I had the privilege to work under one of the finest forecasters in the area in Gary Lezak. Unfortunately, after the economic slump around the terrorist attacks of 9/11, my contract was allowed to expire as a part of a company-wide cutback. Despite job offers in other cities, I opted to stay in Kansas City to raise my family.
In 2008, I once again teamed up with Gary Lezak and others to form LRC Weather, a weather consulting company that serves businesses of all types. Some of our clients include companies like North American Salt, KLP&L, and the Kansas City Chiefs. LRCWeather.com is also the central point for continuing research and forecasting utilizing the LRC (“Lezak’s Recurring Cycle“
.
Outside of the weather, I’m also an active musician and am a worship leader at my church. My love for music prompted me to start Looking Out The Window, a music podcast that looks at the stories behind the music and Podsafe Christmas during the Christmas season. My wife Rebecca and I have three beautiful children and live in Overland Park. Despite being some distance from family, we love Kansas City and truly consider it our home.

I’ve been following your tweets for some time, and finally got around to visiting the famed KCWeather website. Looks good!
Glad to have found your site and to learn a bit more about you. Thank you for your thoughts.
Ed,
I have a weather question. Our youth soccer organization is trying to find a good and accurate way to track storms and lightning so that we can establish an early warning system to clear soccer fields before the storm arrives. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.
